Sage 50 should be shut down on every machine before browsing the corporate directory, renaming the file, and finally closing the computer. When you do this, you will observe that not a single error has occurred.

The User’s Preferences are configured in the UserPref.dat file

This file contains no accounting information. Simply change its name or remove it. When you reopen Sage 50 or Peachtree Accounting, a new file will be generated for you.

Before deleting files, make a backup.

If you are managing many firms, make sure you are aware of the userpref.dat file’s proper placement.

To locate your company’s data location, click here.

1. Have all user log out of Sage 50 or Peachtree Accounting
2. Navigate to the Companies Data Location.
3. Delete or rename the userpref.dat file
4. Start Sage 50 or Peachtree and a new file will be created you.
