When Sage 300 can’t connect to the database, this error happens.
“Database connection not possible. Error = 98 “The user encounters an error when attempting to create a company in Sage 300 ERP (ACCPAC).
This error may be caused by several reasons:
- You can enter a server’s whole domain name or IP address in the DSN setup on the workstations. Select Data Sources under Administrative Tools in the Control Panel (ODBC). The ODBC Data Source Administrator window will open as a result. Activate the System DNS tab. Verify the setup and confirm that the server’s machine name is provided in the “Address” part of the Server area.
- This might also happen if the Pervasive.SQL licence has run out of time. Go to “Utilities” > “License Administrator” in the Pervasive Control Center by selecting “Start > Programs” from the menu bar. Connect by typing the name of the database server computer, checking that the licence key is “permanent,” and making sure it is not expired.
- Perhaps remote requests are not enabled on the server. Open the Pervasive Control Center on the database server, choose “Configure Local Engine,” and then under “Access” make sure the “Accept Remote Requests” option is enabled.
